| Caretakers of Creation: The Christian Spirituality and Practice of Living with the Land, April 9-11, 2010 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. This retreat is a three-day immersion into the Christian experience of God's power and presence expressed in nature, and our role as caretakers of Creation. Each day will include time for personal and communal prayer, quiet reflection, and focused study of the natural world. In our first day, we will enter an atmosphere of prayer and attentiveness, learning to listen deeply to God's presence in both Scripture and Creation. During our second day, we will explore and enter into new ways of relating to the land, plants, and animals through the teachings of the Biblical, ancient Christian, and Christian monastic traditions. Our final day together will emphasize the Christian calling to care for Creation. We will study classical and contemporary Christian approaches to land stewardship, and learn practical ways we can each work to honor God by protecting, healing and restoring the beauty of Creation. Overnight lodging and all meals included. Specific skills taught will include: -The monastic practice of Lectio Divina (sacred reading) -Practices for enhanced sensory awareness -Tools for inter-species communication & kinship with plants and animals -Benedictine models of land stewardship -Care of the land in ancient Israel -How to restore and enhance damaged soil -Wild edible and medicinal plants, tree identification, and other nature study

Also when you get a chance, stop by Namaste' Center for WellBeing in Brookville, PA, and see the Victory Garden planted by Rusty and the Quiet Creek crew. At the moment we only have some kale and a few herbs that have survived this harsh winter. The Center is operated by our sisters Melora and Maryellen. The new Center offers yoga, massage, and whole foods lunch specials (Tues.-Fri. from 11:30 to 1:30 pm). See more Namaste' Center info under the Classes button.
